Capital Pleasure Boats was formed by 4 partners in 2002 with one aim – to provide exceptional boat party experiences whist crusing on the River Thames. Over the intervening years we have gone from one boat, the Golden Jubilee, in 2002, to our core of 4 party boats, Golden Jubilee, Golden Flame, Golden Sunrise and Golden Star, with various other boats along the way.
Our ethos has always been to provide affordable, but not cheap, events and cruises on the River Thames. We offer a ‘bare boat’ service so that you choose the extras you pay for, rather than lumping everything in and increasing prices across the board. We work closely with various suppliers to offer complementary add-ons like buffets, barbecues, DJs and bands, so you end up with exactly the party you want.
Since our inception in 2002 we have gone from a team of 4 partners with help from long suffering friends and family, to a limited company with a full time team of between 8 and 10, and a part-time staff of almost 70. We pride ourselves on our tight knit team, and have been told that this loyalty and camaraderie filters down through the telephone and onto the boats, helping you and your friends in turn enjoy a great night crusing on the River Thames.
It’s always nice to put faces to names so without further ado, we are (in alphabetical order!):
Judy is the artistic side to the firm, and when she’s not doing the school run or chasing around after her three girls can usually be found tinkering with the website, or sorting out our advertising. A teacher in her former life she has been known to threaten detention for miscreants so cold callers beware!
Matt is the maintenance side of the firm and is in charge of keeping the boats in the tip top shape we expect. He also has an eye for detail and has designed and built many key areas of the boats including dancefloors, bars and DJ booths. A Waterman on the River Thames since he can remember Matt is a Leo and enjoys keeping fit.
The accountant of the firm, Nina is in charge of making sure all the pennies are accounted for and reining in everyone else’s great schemes to spend every pound we earn! Never happier than with an Excel spreadsheet in front of her she amazingly still finds time to fit in her two kids and three dogs and even gets to the gym on occasion.
Scott is the man to know if you have any questions about, well... anything really, but specifically marine services, DJ equipment or club nights. Another born-Waterman Scott hates wearing a suit, and his great loves are boats, bikes and beer - although not necessarily in that order.
A very experienced events manager, Carol has a bright a cheery personality and is always prepared to go that extra mile. She is extremely passionate about what she does, she cares deeply about the service she provides and has been known to be moved to tears by the thank you letters she regularly receives from her clients.
Farren adds a new creative flair to the office. She’ll be able to help you visualise your party in the planning stages, so that on the day it lives up to all your expectations. Her bubbly personality is infectious and she strives to make every event one to remember.
Hayley, who became a Mrs McKee in 2016 (and yes, the ops manager of the same surname is no coincidence) continues to bring in new idea and load of energy to the office. Hayley has a fantastic knowledge of all our boats from the window sizes, to table plans and so much more! When asked about her job she replies "There's nothing not to like working here".
To her friends – of which we proudly count ourselves amongst - she’s Little Miss Organised – (which comes in handy now that she's a working mum of 2 boys ;-) Our most experienced events manager and our office manager she's happy only when everything is in its place. Jo understands the importance of first impressions and strives every day to provide excellent service from CPBS.
Sarah can be found beavering away Monday, Wednesday and Fridays during school time. With her infectious giggle she is a breath of fresh air and already very much 'one of us'! When not at work Sarah is at home with her husband and two lovely children.
Suzie is a welcome addition to the CPBS events team, with her excellent eye for detail she will pull out all the stops to help ensure the smooth running of your function. She can't stop organising even when not at work, as she is currently busy planning her own wedding for later on in 2017.
Our new Passenger Boat Operations Manager, Billy joined us in 2016. Cool, calm and collected he is the perfect man to keep the crew in check and make sure all our boat parties pass off without a hitch. When not at work Billy is a devoted dad to his 4 daughters - so it's very likely that he actually sees coming to work as a rest!
Our bar manager Martin is loved by everybody. Based on our boats at Temple Pier on the River Thames, he excels at providing outstanding customer care, nothing is too much trouble. He lives to see happy smiling clients and tip jar full of money!
Our Marine Services Operations Manager, Will has been with us since he was an apprentice and has worked his way up the firm, displaying knowledge and professionalism at every stage. He is a vital part of the workings of CPBS, charming clients, crew and suppliers alike to get jobs completed on time and in budget. In fact he's so charming he even married our very own Hayley in 2016, gifting us with our first CPBS wedding.
